"Of all the programs available for creating CG imagery, modo is the best application I've used at freeing artists from the constraints of technology. The UI and workflow are so well thought out, an artist at any level can jump right in and begin to create without fighting the interface. modo has brought the fun back to 3D."

- Chris Morris, CGI Director at Giannini Creative (Chicago, IL)

modo advantages

Photoshop Compatible
We like Photoshop too. modo reads and writes PSD files and also uses a layered approach to building up the look of your designs that will make you feel right at home. And the latest version of modo makes it easier than ever to bounce back and forth between Photoshop or other 2D editors. You can bake or paint textures in modo, then pop over to Photoshop make an edit (even in layered images) and come back to see changes update in the scene.

Works on Mac and PC computers
Maybe you have a PC at work and a Mac at home. Yes, modo works on both. Your license to modo lets you run on both a Mac and PC.

"modo puts everything I need for effective design right at my finger tips."

– Mike Lynch, Illustrator/Designer

Works as Expected
modo is less arcane than many 3D programs, and is more natural to use. You'll feel right at home in the Shader Tree which allows you to build up the look of your materials and scene properties in a layered way—just like Photoshop. Want to apply an image to a 3D object? Just drag and drop. Want to work in real world units? So does modo.

Works with Illustrator and EPS Files Too
Most 3D artwork starts out as a 2D outline. Just read it into modo and then extrude it. Then apply bevels or perhaps bend the shape to make it fit your needs. Need good old text? No need to leave modo. You can type it in select the font and kerning.

Super Hi-Res Rendering
With the modo renderer you can render out extremely high resolution images for use in print and signage. Even 20K by 30K is no problem. And you can even apply more than one computer to the task with modo's network rendering capability.

View an interview with pre-press artist McKay Hawkes where he explains how he has put modo's renderer to the ultimate test in the ad industry. Images and audio are both found here.

Time is Money
Need something quick? Layer your existing PSD files on top of simple 3D shapes and quickly render out new PSD files that have stunning depth, light effects and texture. You can get a unique effect in just a few minutes of experimentation using a user interface that was designed by artists, not engineers.
