modo 401 SP1 Details

The following list is a review of changes and corrections included in modo 401 Service Pack 1. Feel free to read them all if you are in to that sort of thing.

Fixed: Blue "NaN" artifacts in render created by specific image filtering error with a non 1 gamma setting

Fixed: Presets now retain their opacity settings for instanced layers

Fixed: Duplicating a locator that is redirecting to another item with a command, no longer resets which item it redirects to when you restart modo.

Fixed: Corrected a condition in which an instanced hierarchy on an imported object can cause a corrupted modo state and a file corruption

Fixed: Corrected OBJ loader to preserve smoothing percentage setting

Fixed: Cosmetic glitch causing modo to show ZXY rotation order rather than the appropriate XYZ on Item Props.

Fixed: Selection rollovers get really bogged down if you're working in a slightly complex scene with a number of texture files in it

Fixed: Can't paint in OGL viewport, normal projection under certain circumstances

Fixed: Match commands for matching pivot rotations not working in certain instances

Fixed: Scenes with lots of animated items play back much more slowly on 401 than 302.

Fixed: Constrain to background failing if source mesh is behind BG mesh.

Fixed: Improved performance in animation-centric viewports

Fixed: Trying to "close all" with an FBX loaded is crashing modo (and in some cases locking up OSX)

Fixed: Scale tool handles snap (detent) at 10% increments. Makes the tool feel very awkward.

Fixed: Crash freezing text polygons after changing the curve display level

Fixed: poly.makeCurveClosed : crashes when you're running it on vertices in a layer other than main.

Fixed: Tack tool does not work on previously "tacked" geometry

Fixed: Viewport Grid is not refreshed after resetting custom workplane in certain scenarios

Fixed: (OSX) Painting over some n-gons could result in a crash

Fixed: When using the unwrap tool, if part of the mesh is hidden, it no longer unwraps properly. Instead you get a simple planar projection.

Fixed: The up arrow does not select then next line in what we would call normal behavior.

Fixed: The Render Selected should apply normal visibility rules to non-mesh items.

Fixed: In a script, giving an incorrect argument for the scene.open command will crash modo.

Fixed: Ambient Intensity does not update in preview when global Illumination enabled.

Fixed: Large color picker in Paint viewport stops updating the foreground color if you click off the image in the shader tree

Fixed: Tone mapping is now clamped to 100% to avoid artifacts

Fixed: Some thread safety issues which would result in a crash when using the Sculpt Move tool on some systems

Fixed: DD a preset on a surface while in item mode no longer puts that preset on top of the shader tree.

Fixed: Crash related to creation and re-use of a custom environment preset

Fixed: Loading an Item preset into this scene cause the texture locators in the scene to get deleted

Fixed: Instancing a hierarchy that contains instances is not working correctly: the new hierarchy is not complete and is missing random copies of the source instances.

Fixed: Pen Tool - Lines/polygon strange behaviour: It's too easy to push index above current max count

Fixed: Pen Tool - Using the Pen Tool in Item Mode causes created geometry to in wrong orientation

Fixed: Manually setting a poly tag "pTag" could result in a crash

Fixed: Certain OBJ files will not load

Fixed: Artifacts in Volumetrics (white NaNs)

Fixed: Remove IK can cause a crash

Fixed: Obj files from 3dsMax import with damaged UVs

Fixed: (64 Bit only) Preferences: Units=Unitless > CRASH

Fixed: The scale tool handles do not function correctly when coordinate rounding is set to anything other than "None".

Fixed: Changing light type on light instances loses position, rotation and scale

Fixed: "Convert to mesh" doesn't completely clear instanced controls

Fixed: In the channel list,  remove channel skips a channel if you have multiple channels selected.

Fixed: Cannot multi select channel modifiers

Fixed: purple bounding boxes of instance don't change when an instance is converted to a mesh

Fixed: Undo does not work well with certain parameters of Edge Slice

Fixed: Roughness value in this scene giving inconsistent results

Fixed: modo can crash after an undo/redo combination in specific cases

Fixed: Pen tool merge option will not merge last created polygon

Fixed: Pressing F10 returns a warning message

Fixed: Dragging with RMB down, inside a context menu, crashes modo

Fixed: Edge slice no longer works through back facing polys

Fixed: Some parameters of Assembly presets were not being saved

Fixed: 401 doesn't save polygon parts for OBJ and creates a shading normal map

Fixed: If you select a group of channel and hit "Remove channels" it will remove more than you have selected

Sped Up: Writing buckets into frame buffer by as much as 29%.

Changed: Advanced GL to use fewer local variables, allowing lower-end cards to work. AdvGL disabled on cards with too few locals.

Fixed: Ability to keyframe selected channels with transform tool active.

Fixed: Crash updating shaders for instances and replicators.

Fixed: Lua crash bugs and indexing issues.

Fixed: Performance issue using tools.

Changed: Solid sketch ring color.

Fixed: Several random crashes.

Added: CLxSceneBuild::SetChannelColor, to make it easier for scene loaders to set color channel triplets, and changes to CLxSceneSaver and CLxSceneLoader for absolute and relative image file path handling.

Deleted: Obsolete LibDOM from SDK.

Fixed: A logic error in UV seam drawing code causing an out of bounds condition.

Fixed: Major GL slowdown when procedural textures are animated.

Fixed: Preset dropping in shader tree when polygons are selected.

Fixed: Random crashes in SurfGen_PolyGenerate() and event logging.

Moved: app.quit check in headless mode.

Removed: An internal comment in PNGio from the SDK.

Fixed: Several fixes for various reported "random" crashers

Fixed: FBX loader no longer attempt to load COLLADA.
