Animation: Rotary Aircraft Engine

In this tutorial, we take a close look at many of the new animation set-up and rigging tools in modo 401. These tools allow us to rig and animate mechanically-based objects using constraints, inverse kinematics and dynamic parenting. When finished, the entire engine rig can be driven by a single keyframed channel. This is an ideal tutorial for anyone who wants to dig into what has now evolved into very capable animation system within modo.

Rapid Visualisation and Prototyping

Design is a process that requires continuous revision of an object. This Rapid Visualisation and Prototyping Tutorial shows how modo can be used as an intuitive part of a designer’s toolset. The subject is a portable MP3 player which is created in modo using a variety of techniques in modo, including subdivision surface modeling, sculpting and 3D painting. A physical prototype of the object was produced using a Z Corp 3D printer during the development of this video album.
