Streamline your visualization process with modo Presets Packs
The Product and Automotive Design Presets Pack is a purpose-built materials library designed to help you effectively visualize and present your designs. If you are using modo to create consumer product or automotive imagery, these Presets can save you the trouble of painstakingly creating materials to accurately mimic real world surfaces like leather, carpet, tinted glass and mesh grills – or even “x-ray” materials that reveal interiors. All the work has been done for you; letting you concentrate on applying these carefully crafted materials or creating new variants of your own. The three hundred and fifty included presets let you showcase every curve, line and silhouette of your model with incredible speed.
What is included in the Product and Automotive Design Presets Pack?
The Product and Automotive Design Presets Pack consists of material presets, mesh presets, instructional videos and a guided manual that explains not only how to apply the presets but also how to change the very workflow material preset application in modo. For example, the new Process presets will revolutionize the way you work by introducing adjustable layers that leverage information from your custom preset in order to create a multitude of effects (e.g. bump stencil to create grill effects) found in the product and automotive design world.
The library consists of 140 base presets upon which you can layer any combination of 25 displacement patterns, 20 bump patterns, 5 reflector mesh presets, and any of 160 color channel presets to achieve a limitless number of custom made material presets. Click here to see an application example.
All the presets are set in real world scale so as to properly integrate with real-world CAD data or Subdivision surface models. Sizing and projections are dealt with in the native modo method. Most of the presets are also procedurally-based, making them suitable for high resolution renders and CAD data (which can be a challenge to layout and assign UVs).

Yazan Malkosh has deep modo experience, having been a modo trainer, beta tester, and active Forum member. He has over eight years of experience and resides in Amman, Jordon where he runs the production house, 9b studios. He is well known for his expertise in materials and lighting, beginning with his free Preset library for modo 201 and continuing with his Architectural Interior Lighting and Rendering Video Tutorial and the Studio Lighting & Illumination Kit titles for Luxology.
