modo 501 Floating License

The ideal solution for workgroups

Graphics Studios or Design Offices can purchase modo Floating Licenses as an alternative to individual licenses or a Commercial Site License. modo Floating Licenses allow the colleagues in your work environment to “share” licenses of modo – licenses move automatically between different users on different workstations at a single company location (up to the maximum number of purchased licenses). For example, if you purchase three modo Floating Licenses, then any three of your colleagues can use modo at the same time.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions about Floating Licenses

How do modo Floating Licenses work?

The peer-to-peer Floating License version of modo allows businesses and institutions a flexible way to share modo across their organizations. Using the floating version of modo allows the software to be used by any suitable PC or Mac computer on a local area network up to the limit of purchased licenses. This means that modo can “float” to where it is needed in the workgroup according to project needs. Being peer-to-peer, it does not depend upon a single “license server” – avoiding a major downside of other floating license implementations.

Can you clarify the difference between Network Rendering and Floating Licenses?

Floating Licenses are completely different from the network rendering capability of modo. Each installation of modo (be it Individual or Floating License) can still render on up to 50 other workstations.

Can I use Floating Licenses in different offices?

No, modo Floating Licenses are to be installed in a single geographic location, such as one graphics design office.

How do I install Floating Licenses?

First you must install modo on each workstation (that you want to run modo on), then once you verify modo is working you can enable the floating configuration for that workstation.

How do I upgrade modo Floating Licenses?

Can I convert a modo Individual License to a Floating License?

Sorry, no. At this time, there is no way to upgrade a modo Individual License to a Floating License variety.

How do I obtain additional Floating Licenses?

Additional floating licenses can be purchased at any time and simply added to the pool. You can purchase them above or through your local Authorized Luxology Reseller. In addition, modo commercial Site Licenses are also available.
