modo Floating License Information
Overview
The peer-to-peer floating license version of modo allows businesses and institutions a flexible way to share modo across their organizations. Using the floating version of modo, the software can be used by any suitable PC or Mac computer on a local area network up to the limit of purchased licenses. This means that modo can “float” to where it is needed in the workgroup according to project needs. Being peer-to-peer, there is no dependency on a single “license server” – avoiding a major downside of other floating license implementations.
Additional Details
Floating licenses are completely different from the network rendering capability of modo. Each installation of modo can still render on up to 50 other workstations.
Floating licenses are to be installed in a single geographic location.
modo must be separately and previously installed on each workstation (that you want to run modo on) prior to attempting to run in a floating configuration.
At this time, there is no way to upgrade a regular modo license to a floating variety.
Additional floating licenses can be purchased at any time and simply added to the pool as a new master license.
