David Stripinis Discusses Avatar in modcast with Luxology’s Brad Peebler
Media Alert
Jan. 11, 2010 – Luxology’s President and Co-founder Brad Peebler is back on the Web again with a captivating podcast (“modcast”) interview with virtual camera operator David Stripinis, currently at Double Negative in London’s SoHo. Prior to Double Negative, Stripinis worked alongside Director James Cameron for three years on the recently released feature film Avatar. In this extensive interview, Stripinis provides insight on the brand-new virtual filming techniques that are blurring the boundaries between pre-viz, production and post. Stripinis discusses how modo was his “swiss army knife” in a suite of CG tools, props and other content that were used daily to provide Cameron with a real-time environment to plan scenes in intricate detail. The challenges and deep benefits of this real-time approach to film-making are monumental, even beyond the obvious implications for visual effects.
