Workshop Sessions Using modo Software Will Focus on Shoe Modeling
Boston – March 10, 2009 – The Industrial Designers Society of America’s (IDSA) Northeastern District Conference will be featuring two sessions hosted by Luxology’s Learning Tools Division manager, Andy Brown. The two workshop sessions will focus on modeling and visualizing a soccer shoe design right down to the stitching using modo®, Luxology’s award-winning 3D modeling, painting and rendering software. These sessions are both part of the IDSA Friday “Bootcamp” Workshops, which will take place on Friday, March 27, 2009 from 2:15 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. These sessions will demonstrate how subdivision surface models are well suited for the conceptual design of hard and soft body consumer product goods. Luxology’s modo Software Helps NASA Visualize Prototype Moon Rover Featured at Inauguration Parade
Washington, D.C. – Jan. 20, 2009 – A new NASA lunar rover, the six-wheeled Lunar Electric Vehicle, is making its first public appearance during the parade at the inauguration ceremonies for U.S. President Barack Obama. The prototype was visualized in Luxology’s modo® 302 software by NASA designers at the Langley Research Center, enabling them to create a photoreal image of the vehicle prior to physical production. The designer’s precise rendering relied heavily on modo 302 features such as Micropoly Displacement, which allowed them to get the texture of carbon fiber just right. Both parade attendees and TV viewers can view the first public showing of the next-generation rover, visualized in Luxology’s modo software and produced by NASA for the proposed manned return to the moon in approximately 2020.
