Congratulations to one and all that sent us your very best seasonal images. It was difficult to pick the winners among so many outstanding entries!

The Grand Prize winner will
have their modo object crafted
into a physical 3D model

Grand Prix Winner: Gelmi

Our 1st place winner is Gelmi for this shimmering image of a splash. This caps off a great year for this Brazilian-based artist – he has created so many great images including his awesome image of a colorful Ararauna bird graces this month’s cover of 3D World magazine. We also thank Gelmi for the way he shares his techniques on the forums.

Our Grand Prix winner will have his favorite modo object crafted into a real, physical 3D model, courtesy of Standard Non Standard in Paris, France, utilizing their Rapid Prototyping technology services.

iPod nano in their favorite color.

Second Prize Winner: Maciej Frolow

Congratulations to Maciej Frolow for creating our 2nd place winning image in the Luxology Holiday Image contest. His image is named At World’s Top. The image has great mood and atmosphere, with great contrast between the cold craggy landscape and the cheery little outpost.

Maciej shared a hint as to how he created mountains on the forum:

“The snow and mountains are the same element, there is a material with noise set at displacement with a gradient as a mask set on slope. Higher is the angle, the more you have rocks and less snow.”

The Third Prize winner will receive
the Official Luxology Guide,
autographed by Dan Ablan.

Third Prize Winner: Diane Hama

Diane Hama has won 3rd place for this clean and appealing image. She informs us that it was made by her and a friend called Adriana Yuki for a pet shop’s Christmas card. This image captures a happy and friendly (dare we say “sweet”) spirit. And with two of three images coming from Brazil, we expect more great images in 2009 from all of our friends in South America!
