Allen Hastings
Chief Scientist
Allen Hastings’ far-reaching vision is always tempered by mathematical accuracy and flawless execution. With a background in fine art and music, Allen first started writing software to make 3D digital movies at a time when few believed it was possible. His efforts resulted in some of the first off-the-shelf 3D packages available. He created NewTek’s LightWave 3D in 1989 and remained the primary force behind its animation and rendering algorithms through 2001. Allen received an Emmy for his work on LightWave 3D in 1993 and in 2001 Animation Magazine named him one of the top 15 most influential people in the animation industry. At Luxology, Allen continues to make significant original contributions to the art and science of 3D.
Stuart Ferguson
Chief Technology Officer
Stuart Ferguson started programming in elementary school and has never stopped. Even before completing his computer science degree, Stuart worked professionally on visualization and interactive systems for users as diverse as astrophysicists and businessmen. His commitment to user interface design led him to create LightWave’s Modeler 3D, now recognized as a premier geometric modeling system. Stuart worked on the LightWave product from 1990 through 2001, and in addition to modeling was responsible for much of the general application infrastructure including a cross-platform toolkit that took LightWave 3D from the Amiga to Windows (DEC Alpha, MIPS and intel), Mac OS, Sun and SGI platforms. Stuart received an Emmy for his work on LightWave 3D in 1993. A 25-year veteran in the CG industry, Stuart leads the highly talented Luxology engineering team.
