The Modeling Workflow

Now that I have the eye, mouth and nose area, I just need to bring them together in the same layer and to merge the point with the help of the Merge Vertex function.

Doesn't he look pretty now? What? Yes, you're right, he needs some ears.

Brining your indivual parts together is a breeze with the Merge Tool. Just watch the movie above.

can you hear me out there?

I know this could sound boring right now, but basically the ears are done with the same method as the eyes or mouth area, just using the good old Edge Extend tool, and I refine the geometry, with some edges splitting and polygonal bevelling.

heads up

Now that the ears are welded to the face, i just extend the edges of the forhead to form the profile of the skull, and then fill the gap using the Make Polygon function.

body not by victoria

The body is realtively easy to do, I just extend the edges of the collar, all the way down, and when I am happy with the overall shape, I start to refine the detailled area, using the Loop Slice tool to make some cloth wrinkle and small details.

The Loop Slice function makes adding detail quick and easy. You can specify the amount of Loops you want to add as well.

stretch out those arms

I start the arms out of a cylinder, and add new sections with the Loop Slice. After that I push the Vertices around until I am satisfied with the shape. After a small polygonal bevel to suggest the shoulder muscle I am done with this part of his anatomy and just need to mirror the thing and to weld the arms into the body.

gimme five, well, four (click on image to launch .MOV of how to begin a hand)

Ok, the hands are a little bit more tricky, well actually after thinking about it, they really aren't. I start first with a box that would be my first finger, following the same working method that I used for the arms, I add new polygon rows and bring them in to form.

When this is done, I duplicate the same functions for the thumb, just shaping it in a differentt way as the 1st finger.

Now i just need to duplicate my fingers as needed, change their proportions a little bit in relation to each other, weld them together and again using my beloved Edges Extender I start to create the shape of the hand. After that I split a polygon row to get a palm crease and finally I just need to weld the hand to the arm.
