Lux: Have you customized your modo (UI, Scripts, Macro)?

JJG: I really enjoy the default configuration of modo, but I have recorded a lot of macros that make my modeling workflow much faster. I have macros to create windows, doors, chimneys, stairs, etc. I also make very usefull how you can assign keys in modo.

Lux: Can you elaborate on your use of macros for creating building elements?

JJG: For example I created a macro to make complex windows from simple planes, using bevel tool to make all details of a real window. Now I can make all windows of a building from the architects CAD 2D bounding boxes with only one click.

"I think that modo saves me about 25% or 30% of modeling time."

Lux: How has modo affected your production schedules?

JJG: The workflow of modo is simply the perfect mix of speed and quality in modeling. modo's interactive tools make modeling really fast, especially for short time-line projects. The selection tools are incredible, from double-click to select connected elements and material quick pick, to loop and ring selection. Of course the real edge tools make things more intuitive, easier and quicker to manage. I also use various selection centers frequently and custom workplanes. The workplanes are really useful for architecture modeling. I think the important are the macros. I have macros for a lot of processes that I had to make by hand previous to modo. I think that modo saves me about 25% or 30% of modeling time, and this is only a version 1.0. I am anxious to see what Luxology could bring us in the future.
